Why aren't italics showing up in my published posts, only in preview?

Italicized words aren’t showing up in published posts, only when in preview. These are older posts, and when originally published in 2013, everything was fine. What’s up, buttercup?

Could you point me toward one of the pages or posts where you added italics, but now it’s not showing up? That will help me narrow things down much more quickly.

Alas and alack, fair Liz, it would appear that I am the village idiot. When I signed in this morning, the italics were once again in place. My poor laptop is of the era when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and living in such a rural area doesn't help signal strength. It must have had something to do with one or both of those things. (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!). Thank you so much for your prompt reply, and happy Thanksgiving!
