why aren't my category edits showing on the website?
-
I have added a new category, as well as changed the name & spelling on two other categories, and the changes show up in the dashboard area, but NOT on the actual website (that our members see). I updated the name and slug, hit “update” and tried this on two different browsers (Chrome and Foxfire) and in both, the changes showed up in the dashboard, but not on the actual website. I tried refresh as well, logging out and back in, none of this assisted. Also spent over an hour searching all your help questions/sections, this question was not addressed.

How can we help you when you failed to post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question and it’s not linked to you username?

First time user of WordPress timethief, so sorry if I didn’t post correctly. I don’t have a blog, I’m referring to categories on the website page that can only be accessed by paid members, that is why I posted it as a general question. Are websites now called blogs?Can you please give me some troubleshooting tips as to things I can try? Thank you

Strictly speaking a blog is a website. To avoid hair-splitting see here > Using WordPress.com to Create a Website
Can you please give me some troubleshooting tips as to things I can try?
Are you referring to the support documentation found here? http://en.support.wordpress.com/
If so and if you don’t have a blog then then what do you mean by “Why aren’t my category edits showing on the website?”
What is the URL?

timethief – wow, didn’t know you had to be an expert on all things to ask a question. The area you referenced also states “A blog can also be one part of a website with multiple pages. ” We have a website with a blog on it, and I was referring to a page in the website, not the blog feature, that’s why I called it a “website”. Didn’t know I’d be attacked for asking a question and not knowing the “proper” terminology for something. Pity you can’t have patience with a novice, remember everybody is a “newbie” at some point in time.

@tinatravler
I did not attack you and your posturing as a victim fails to impress me. I asked for the URL of the site in question just as our Moderator did. We asked dor it because we cannot provide a correct answer without you providing the URL for the site in question. You still chose not to provide the URL.We have a website with a blog on it, and I was referring to a page in the website, not the blog feature, that’s why I called it a “website”.
Well that’s informative because no free hosted WordPress.com blog can be enbedded into any website. I believe the URL of the webiste you refuse to post here will most likely reval that it’s a wordpress.org install. If so then the support documrntation here does not apply at all, and you have posted to the wrong support forum.

From your comment here, it seems as though you are using the word category in conjunction with a page rather than your blog posts.
I was referring to a page in the website, not the blog feature, that’s why I called it a “website”.
On this support page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ it says “Pages are not associated with a date/time like posts, nor can you tag or categorize a page.”
So if you ARE on wordpress.com, maybe it’s the use/misuse of the words categories and pages that sets up our communication difficulties. Are you perhaps referring to menus that have been set up for the category archiving “pages”? It is hard to troubleshoot without seeing the page with the problem. If you are on WordPress.com, please describe your page further to give more insight as to the difficulty you are having.
