why aren't my followers receiving posts on email?

  Hello, I have a follow by email button on my blog, and a list of people have signed up for it. However it’s recently come to my attention that none of them (i’ve polled quite a few) are receiving my new posts via email. My question is, are they not receiving emails because:

  a) something is off on my settings
  b) they need to adjust the email settings on their inboxes to allow wordpress emails
  c) I need to download a plugin to have my posts go out via email

  I can’t find a clear answer for this on any of the support pages so I would really appreciate your help. If it’s “b”, can you please describe to me what change they’ll need to make to their email settings, so that I can put instructions in my next post.

  Most likely it would be b.

  Your followers will have to check their own settings – you nor I would be able to do this for them. Have them check their Blogs you Follow email notifications by going here:

  http://wordpress.com/following/edit/

  In addition, have them check their Delivery Settings here to make sure they are not blocking emails from WordPress.com:

  https://wordpress.com/settings/subs-delivery/

  If they are email subscribers, have them check their settings here:

  Status

  If everything is correct and they are still not receiving email notifications, please provide me their emails and I can check our logs. Our system will redact the emails so that only I will be able to see them.

  I will send them a message. Most of them are not wordpress members, so would they still use this link?

  Or which is most appropriate?

  It also seems like a lot to ask from my readers and honesty I could see more than a few not being able to manage it. But I would very much like them to receive my posts by email, as it makes their following much easier and benefits my blog.

  Is there a plug in I can get that does a better job sending posts via email?

  Also, I have no way of forcing readers or manually adding readers to follow blogs. They have complete control over their email settings. We at WordPress.com wouldn’t be able to do that.

  Please note that it is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:
