why aren't my "invitations" to contribute workiing?
-
I am having difficulty inviting people to my blog (http://pointsadhsblog.wordpress.com/) as contributors. I am following the steps outlined here –http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/. I go to “users,” click “invite new,” input email address (sometimes it’s a gmail account, sometimes an account connected to a contributor’s job),select “contributor,” and then hit “send invitation.” But folks say they never receive the “invitation.”
If they “Join” wp and create a username, then i do the process all over again, they get THAT invite., but the page above does not stipulate that that is required– and I don’t want to ask my guest bloggers, many of whom are very busy professionals– to join WP just to post one blog entry w/me.
Is something wrong (or am I doing something wrong) with my “invitation,” or is it actually a fact that you can only invite someone to contribute who is already a “member” of WP?

The people you’re inviting to your blog should receive invites regardless of whether or not they have a WordPress.com account. If they don’t have a WordPress.com account, they’ll simply be prompted to create one when they click on the “Accept Invite” link in the email.
In the future, if you invite someone to your blog, can you ask them to check that the invitation email wasn’t caught in their Spam/Junk mail folder? Sometimes emails from WordPress.com get stuck in there.

the invites are not stuck in spam/junk filters. They are just not GOING to the invitees. Can you look on your side and see if the invites are actually being sent?

Could you check with one of the recipients to see if the invite email was caught in the Spam/Junk mail folder? That’s usually the culprit.
If it’s not there, you can send us an email with the email addresses of those who’ve not received the invitation emails. We’ll be able to take a closer look at their specific cases that way.

I replied to this message a few days ago by email, saying the problem had been resolved– one person hadn’t looked through ALL of their spam filters, another hadn’t given me the correct email address. So human error was the culprit.
