why aren't my "invitations" to contribute workiing?

I send this query to you last week:

Thank you for your support request:I have invited several people to become authors at my blog (http://pointsadhsblog.wordpress.com/), using the drop down on “invite new” to indicate their author status. They’ve accepted, but appear as “followers”– and there doesn’t seem to be any way to upgrade their status from follower to author. how can they be made authors as I originally intended them to be?
Your message is flying through cyberspace to us as you read this. We will get back to you as soon as we can.

Actually, I just found your later one: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-arent-my-invitations-to-contribute-workiing
Would you please reply to our questions there?
I’ll close down your email request.

I replied via email to the questions at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-arent-my-invitations-to-contribute-workiing last week when asked; I have now replied on the forum page with THIS post:
>I replied to this message a few days ago by email, saying the problem had been >resolved– one person hadn’t looked through ALL of their spam filters, another hadn’t >given me the correct email address. So human error was the culprit.
On Saturday the 17th I sent the NEW inquiry (though it is about a similar issue) above, and that is what I am now trying to resolve. Please advise.

Ah, sorry about that.
In this case, you actually need to re-invite them as the desired user level.
