why aren't my likes showing up?

likes are coming through in my inbox, but not on the blog post itself. ???

Can you send me a link to a post that isn’t showing the likes for you? I checked your latest post and it shows the 12 likes, with the profile gravatars of the “likers”.

But she doesn’t show up as one of the 12. As of an hour ago, only 7 Likes were listed on this post, though my mobile notifications had given me 12. Seems those 12 did end up on the page eventually. Is there a lag? Haven’t seen this before. ?? Please advise.

Typically, there shouldn’t be a lag between the notification and what is displaying on your site. If the user does not have a Gravatar image, we don’t display their image in the list, since it can look a bit funky to have a bunch of default images there :-).
For that particular user, I do see her listed. There can be lag between when an user adds/changes a Gravatar and when it’ll begin to display on sites (since we cache the images to help keep things speedy).
We do cache quite a bit around your site to ensure the best experience possible for your users, so, while any delay when refreshing the cache is usually not noticeable, it is still possible that you might have ran into it in this case.

thanks for getting back to me so quickly. It’s happening with pretty much all commentors today. These are folks who show up routinely, so not sure why things aren’t working today. Here’s another who just showed up in my box (and even the notification tab on the post itself), but not on my post.

I’m seeing that user in your list (14 total). Let me check into it a bit deeper—we have your site on a number of different datacenters across the country to help ensure uptime and speed for everyone, which one of them may be a little behind on the update.
I’ll also like/unlike your post as part of testing, so don’t be concerned if you see me like it via notifications, but not via the site.

looks like all 16 of the likes (including you, thanks–even it it was just for testing purposes) are accounted for and on display. Did you figure out why it was happening? I don’t see it as folks changing Gravatars as it seemed more universal. ??

I kept the Like since it’s a cool post too. I like the idea of using liquor for more than just drinking, but am clueless on what works or doesn’t. Good read! :-)
Still looking for a definite reason that we can pass along with certainty. In all cases, all of the likes are being recorded, only the display of them is delayed.
