Why aren't my new photos enlarging like the old ones?
-
All of a sudden the photos that I add to my site cannot be enlarged. Before, a single click would enlarge them to screen size. A second click would enlarge them further. None of that works now and I can’t find any differences between the settings of the not-enlargable images and the enlargable images. The older photos can still be enlarged. There must be a setting somewhere that got reset, maybe when the new image gallery format changed.

The “Image File” option did the trick. Thank you! I’m not sure how these become unselected but I will check from now on.

You’re welcome.
The option became unselected exactly the way you guessed: normally the tool remembers your last selection, but this was reset when WP redesigned the tool. -
And that is likely one reason why so many have been complaining about the new media uploader being difficult to use.
No one mentioned that the settings were reset, and those options are no longer “above the fold.”
