why aren’t my posts displayed?
-
I added two posts today to my new blog and they initially showed up on the main page, but then I tried editing the timestamps and now when you go to my page, it says: Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here. When I go to manage my posts, they’re both there and I can view them, so why aren’t they posted on the page??

Check the date stamp and make sure it is correct. It sounds as if the date/time stamp is for a later date or time.
-
Checked, date accurately says Oct. 1 ’07 a little before nine, which, if anything, should be too early. Am I posting in the wrong place or something?
-
Probably not. If you changed the time settings on your blog, you could have sent them into the future. It’s only 7:25 my time, PDT. Have you changed the time settings on your blog at all? Do they show up in Manage?
What are the URLs of the blog/posts?

Check in your dashboard under options in the date and time section and make sure your adjustment from GMT is correct for your time zone (calculated local time will appear below “default time format”).
-
I checked back an hour later and the posts are present, which does indicate that the problem stemmed from my changing the time stamp and such, but I’ve also noticed that it says the current time for -6 GMT (central time) is 9:27, and that GMT is 3:27 (which makes sense- it’s 6 hours earlier), but it’s definitely 10:27 here, which means it should be 4:27 GMT, right? it was definitely my changing the time that caused the posts not to show up, but i think the central clock is an hour off… has anyone else noticed this?

Daylight saving time messes things up because GMT does not change with daylight saving time. Change it to -5 GMT and you should be good. When we go back to normal time you will have to change it to -6.
-
clarification: GMT changes with daylight savings time, UTC (which is what WP.com uses) does not. This is where a lot of time-related confusion comes in.
The east coast of North America is -5 GMT, but during daylight savings it is -4 UTC. During daylight savings, GMT is +1 UTC.
I hasten to add here that US daylight savings dates are now different from British dates, due to the recent change in US law. So, the best thing to do when setting your blog’s time is to just do the math from the UTC time given.
