Why aren't my posts opening when I select the category from my menu?

I am having trouble with my categories and my menu. When I have assigned a category to a post It isn’t always there when I select it from the menu. Example, assigned a post the category of religion when I select religion from my menu the post isn’t there.

Hi there – would you mind giving me the link or title of a post that is assigned to the Religion category which isn’t showing up under Religion so I can investigate further? Thanks.

I appreciate your response but I figured out what I did wrong. I would like to know how to delete links in the footer of categories I deleted. I made a mess of things redoing my menu.

What’s displayed in the Categories widget is what’s entered here > Dashboard > Posts > Categories so that’s where you go to edit.
