Why aren't my traffic stats displaying correctly?

  • Unknown's avatar

On my blog, I get notifications that people are liking my posts, but when I check my stats there aren’t showing a corresponding number of hits. Why is this? How can I fix it?

My other blog is having no issues what so ever.

If you are using Publicize to post to Facebook and/or Twitter and/or linkedin then your followers on those sites have been added into those numbers you see here.

There are several different ways that readers can start following your blog.

Also note that a follower can click the “like” button without visiting your blog.

    1. A follower can click the “like” button when viewing your posts in the Readomatic reader on the home page of WordPress.com
    2. A follower can click the “like” button when viewing your posts on the Topics pages.
    3. A follower can click the “like” button when viewing your posts when using an app.
    4. An email subscriber can click the “like” button in the email they receive of your new posts without visiting your blog.

Why don’t post/page views add up to total views?
Post/page views are included in total views, but there are many views to your site that are not a post or page URL. The front pages, category/tag/date/author archives, and searches are all examples of other views that only count towards total views.

Why doesn’t the number of referrers add up to the number of total views?
Not all visitors will land on your blog by clicking a link somewhere else. Visitors may type your URL directly into the web browser, click a link in an email, or click a link in another application which then loads the browser.
