Why aren't the "likes" showing up on my blogs?

Wow, that’s great news. Weird, isn’t it? Computers, can’t live with them, can’t live without them.

Do you guys know how long it should take for me to stop getting email alerts after unsubscribing?

Thanks again dandelion! They kept coming yesterday. But it appears as of this am that they have stopped.
Looks like I spoke too soon about ABP. :-( It appears that there is some inconsistency w/how ABP is functioning so I see one thing one day and something different the next. The person who has been responding to me on ABP forums says it appears it is an issue w/the filter itself. They suggested I turn in a report.
I just now figured out where to submit the report, lol. It appears like a rather time consuming job, as the directions seem to involve quite a few steps. Plus I have to do one for firefox and a separate one for safari.
As of this am, here’s where things stand:
On both Firefox and safari: The ONLY way I can see the # of likes and the avatars of the likers is when ABP is disabled. When enabled on both, I cannot see either the # of likes or the avatars of the likers.
The only difference between Firefox and safari is:
On Firefox, when disabled, I see the likes but instead of the actual ad, I see a link “about these ads” and right under that is a box that says:
“Occasionally, some of your visitors may see an advertisement here.
Tell me more | Dismiss this message”On Safari, when disabled, I see the likes AND an ad located inside of my blog. It’s right under the last line (or in this particular blog, a photo) and BEFORE the likes.
Over the past several days as I have switched back and forth between enabled and disabled & refresh the page, I have seen different scenarios. For example, one time I saw the number of likes on safari, but not the avatars of the likers. What I described above is the most common scenario.
Again, thank you dandelion and designsimply for all of your help. I will post back here w/any updates in the hopes it will help others who may experience the same issue.

Good to hear that the emails have stopped.
Thanks for the update. I like to learn about these things so will stay subscribed to this thread for additional updates.
Personally I disabled “Likes” for my blog posts as my blog receives far too many from bloggers who just want to leave a link to their blog on the posts and really didn’t read and enjoy the post.

A family member of mine went to “Like” my post and wasn’t able. She is not a member of wordpress. Is she able to do so anyway? If so, how?

@berni
Your question here is off-topic for this thread. The answer ie. yes is found via tag searching for like button use.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-like-button-11?replies=2#post-2502514In the future please use the Add new topic link to create a thread of your own https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

dandelion, I appreciate you keeping track. I’m still really new at WP and am still stumbling around trying to figure out how to do stuff. Right now I’m thrilled to get likes. Since posting this thread I’ve gotten way more hits than usual. :-)
berni, according to this link one must be logged into WP to like something.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/likes/ (5th paragraph down)But according to the link below you can allow anyone to comment:

oops, timethief, we were typing at the same time. In the future, should I refrain from responding?

@mindfulmomentsmeditation
Please be aware that likes are easy to get but meaningful on topic-comments that further the discussion and add to the knowledge base are hard to get. This is the consequence of offering like buttons. We humans are easily addicted to what’s quick, easy and in many cases, meaningless (like button spam). -
@mindfulmomentsmeditation
I suggest that you aim to get comments and you do that by knowing who your target audience is and by reaching them https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2013/09/01/how-to-identify-your-blogs-target-audience/ Note there are more tips here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/any-ideas-on-how-to-gain-more-visibility-legitimately?replies=2#post-2505257Are you looking for feedback on your blog? Thank you timethief. I will remember that. :)
I think I finally have what I think is the root cause of the likes not showing up.
It has to do w/the subscription lists. I had only subscribed to one list, but somehow there were others. The kind responder on the ABP forums said it was the “fanboy social list.” Once I deleted it on both Firefox and safari, the problem appears to be solved.
Thank you & dandelion again for all of your help.
Blessings!!!
