Why aren't the navigation links working on my panel themed site?

On my site, KingMaul.com, I recently added a new comic using the Panel theme, which I also paid for in order to have additional customization options. Now, however, none of the navigation links are working.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I thought that it might be an issue with my cache, or needing the new post to clear through the system, but after trying on multiple browsers on multiple computers, and even having other people check from their homes, I’m still experiencing this issue.

I paid for not only WordPress hosting, but also the opportunity to customize this theme, only to have it fail to support even the most basic functionality. Is anyone going to assist me with this, or do I need to pursue getting refunds?

    Hi there,

I checked your site here: http://kingmaul.com/

I was able to use all of the navigation links on your site without any issues. Can you let me know exactly what kind of error you get when you try to click on the links? What URL is showing in your browser’s address bar when you have this issue?

Also, can you make a screenshot of what you are seeing? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service such as Snaggy. That will help me understand what’s going on.

    Hi Rachel,
You’re right, the site is working now. Apparently overnight it must have righted itself. I had the same exact problem last week, however, and it was resolved in the same manner…waiting for a while until it just started working.

Some more details on the issue:
    – Publishing a new comic has the new page show up on kingmaul.com
    – Going to that direct URL, however, causes a page not found error
    – Clicking on any of the navigation links sends me to the correct URLs, but again, prompts a page not found error
    – Navigating directly to the URL links for individual pages causes page not found errors

Is it an issue with the content needing to sit on the server for a day before it works properly? If so, that seems like a pretty serious functionality issue.

I’d prefer not to start posting test pages to the site, but I can if that’s the best way to figure out what’s going on.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Hi Aubrey,

Thanks for sending along those details. The content you post should be available as soon as you publish it, so it isn’t a matter of needing to wait for the new post to work properly.

I’m doing some testing on my end, so for now don’t worry about posting test pages on your site. However, I want to check on just a few more details:

    – When you post your new comic, do you make any changes in the Publish module in the post editor? In particular, is the post set to “Publish immediately” or do you schedule a specific date/time for the post to be published?

    – When you checked in other browsers/computers and had other people check on their computers, did you visit your site’s main page at http://kingmaul.com/ or did you visit the exact URL for your new post?

    – When you saw the page not found error, were you logged in to your WordPress.com account or not? (Or did you see that error both while logged in and logged out?)

As I do additional testing, that information will help me try to reproduce the error you’re seeing. Thanks!

    Hi Rachel,
Thanks for looking into this. Here are the answers to your questions:

    – Both times, I had scheduled the comic to go live on Monday morning PT. The comic appears on KingMaul.com, but the navigation links don’t work and you can’t get access to any of the other comics.
    – I tried visiting both KingMaul.com and the specific URL pages, with no luck on either.
    – I tried using the navigation links both while logged in and logged out to my WordPress.com account.

    Thanks again,
    Aubrey

    Hi Aubrey,

Hm, this is odd! I really appreciate all of the details you provided. However, I have been testing, but I can’t reproduce the problem that you’ve described.

The next time you publish a comic, can you make screenshots of what you see on the screen? A screenshot of the main page and the pages with errors when you try to navigate (including the address in your browser’s address bar on each page) would really help. You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service such as Snaggy.

Also, just to be sure it isn’t a caching issue, can you try clearing your browser’s cache when you see that problem just to see if it makes a difference?
