Why arnt there backgrounds?

  backgrounds, there like headers. you can customize them on most of the sites i have been to. But not this one and why is that? im sure thousands of bloggers want or need a background for there site.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Many of the newer themes released in the last 4 or so months have customizable backgrounds. Go to appearance > themes and use the feature filter and click custom background to get a list.

  With the themes here that do not support custom backgrounds from within the dashboard, you can do it with the custom CSS upgrade.

  I just checked and there are 8 themes that support custom backgrounds right now.

  Why can’t you customize the backgrounds in most cases here?

  Because the workings of our themes and blogs are shared among all users using a given theme. If you were to change it, it would change for ALL of them. This is also why we have tighter security here, and limited embeds.

  Also, very few bloggers are better designers than the people who built the themes. If you’re that good, build one and submit it to WordPress.com and if they accept it, every single blog with that theme will contain a link back to you.
