Why can an ….Aurhor…..approve a comment on my site that I do not want approved?

Why can an author on my site approve a comment I do not want approved? I thought only the administer could approve comments left on site.

The page says the following –
An Author can create, edit, publish, and delete only their own posts, as well as upload files and images. Authors do not have access to create, modify, or delete pages, nor can they modify posts by other users. Authors can edit comments made on their posts.
I don’t think the author can approve comments, the administrator and the editor can do that.

My author can approve comments and when I go into WordPress bootsandblisterswalkinggroup I can see comments I hav not approved and do not want my readers to see

I have been able to send comments to trash but I don’t want them to appear in the first place

Hey have you enabled the “comment must be manually approved” option and disabled the “comment author must have a previously approved comment” on the discussion settings page?

I don’t think I have disabled the “comment author must have a previously approved comment”. But I have enabled ” comment must be manually approved. I will go in and disable. Will this solve the problem. .

I think it should.. provided that the person who was commenting before had at least one previously approved comment.
So if XYZ was commenting “something something”
and you wanted “something something” deleted and not approved. But you had approved comment by XYZ previously (sometime in the past) then that “something something” was automatically approved.

What I want to do is stop my author approving comments even when they relate to her post. I know she is not supposed to be able to approve but she can and does. Then the comment…which I as administer have not approved appears for everyone to read. I am not trying to ban followers from commenting. I just have to decide which comments to approve as some are just personal messages .

I still don’t know how an author can approve a comment on WordPress I thought only the Administrator and editor could approve comments.
