why can I add new themes to some sites and not others?

I have a wordpress.com site where I can change the themes if I feel like it. I found a great theme for a friend’s site, but he has about half a dozen choices for themes and that’s it. As a matter of fact, when I go through his site to change the theme (I wanted to use Enterprise) it says Enterprise doesn’t exist. Also, WP doesn’t allow me (him) to see his site previewed in themes.

He has the latest version of wordpress.

Also, he cannot publish his pages automatically to FB or Twitter. His page is an art page, but, just in the last week, when he posts to FB, the only photo it shows is his profile photo. His site is sorensensilver.com (the domain is not through wordpress).

Also, when we tried to go onto this forum through his site, it says his site doesn’t exist.

Anyone know why this is happening?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Without links to the specific sites in question we can’t give accurate help, other than you are getting WordPress.ORG installs and WordPress.COM hosting confused.

Your friend isn’t hosted here at WordPress.com. That is why this forum says he doesn’t exist: he does not exist as a WordPress.com user, because he isn’t one.

Self-hosted blogs are autonomous. They stand alone and are not in anyway connected to wordpress.COM.

Your friend has to rummage around the internet, find a theme that he likes and then download and install that theme on his blog and then activate it. There are tons of built-in features here that self-hosted blogs do not have out of the box, and there are capabilities that self-hosted blogs have that wordpress.COM blogs do not.
