Why can I not bring new articles and photos to my sideboard?

Unfortunately the only ways in which we have to add additional links to your Links page are included right here:

Thanks, but I ound another method to ad all the individual links. Though I save it with “Mein Leben in Finnland”, it appears as “Uncategorized”. I am puzzled…. Over and above the is a category on the sidebar, saying “Meine Welt in Finnland” withought being clickable. I would like to delete it, but cannot find it anywhere… Can you please find it?

    Hey there,

It looks like you probably figured out how to set links to “Mein Leben in Finnland,” because when I go to your site there are two links set to that category on the front of your site with nothing set to “Uncategorized.” Is everything good on your end?

Thanks for your mail. I now try to bring my poems and photos back, but I am afraid it will end up the same problem., that I cannot save new items. Then all the efforts were invain.
Over and above thre is a category (cannot be clicked) still on my sidebar, which I cannot delete. I looked everywhere, but cannot find it. Do you have an idea, how I can get rid of it?
    Best greetings from Finland,
    Doris

Is the category that you do not want still “Meine Welt in Finnland?” I ask because there are 5 links in that category, and if I delete that category then those will become Uncategorized.

And yes, if you continue to add every single poem, image, and post to the link page then eventually you will not be able to add any more. It is not designed to be used in that fashion, as I mentioned previously. The Links page is meant to link to external pages which you find interesting. It isn’t meant to link to all of the pages which exist on your blog.

ok, if the link is only for external links, how do I then save my poems?

You can add your poems to either posts or pages. If you add them to posts, then visitors will be able to find them just by browsing through your site. If you add them to pages then a menu item will automatically be added to your menu bar. Again, this will get quite full, so you may not want to pursue this route.

If you are looking to create a way for all of your poems to be listed on one single page, I would again suggest that you use the Archive shortcode. This will create a list of all of the titles of all of your posts on one page. You can then just create one link to this page and all of your posts will be linked to it:

Thanks for this advice. I will try to understand how to do it.

Would it also help, if I reduce the number of photos? Will it help, if I make the photos smaller? They are very big. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Doris – In general, the size of your images doesn’t affect your posts, pages or archives. Are you having any issues related to this?

If you’re trying one of amightywp’s suggestions, just let me know which and I’ll be happy to help you set things up :)
