Why can I not comment?
-
I recently changed my email. Now, being logged in to my blog and trying to answer on a comment I receive the following message:
“You are being asked to login because (here appears the new email) is used by an account you are not logged into now.”
Again filling in the login data is ineffective.

This may resolve your issue. I sure hope it does.
You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.
Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.
Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

Thank you for your quick reply.
In my case both addresses are the same. They were accepted by WP and confirmed by me. The address is not totally new (outlook.com) and not used elsewhere.

Would you please reply with the email address that you’re trying to use?
As long as you post it in the standard format, it will be hidden from all but myself and fellow staff members.

I have tried again and it doesn’t work, not with the new or the old email address. The only way to reply to a comment is via the comments link on the dashboard. This works trouble-free, even with the new email address. Answering directly from the blog post results in the message mentioned above.

Ok, would you please make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled?
-
-
Hm, ok then. Last thought, you might have a corrupt cookie fouling things up.
Please try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
Hopefully that will fix it up.
-
I am sorry to disappoint you. I have cleared cookies and cache, without success. Using Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera browsers result in the same error message.

The URL is:

but I also have tried on other URL’s.

Ok, I can see it. I think the email change just didn’t take on your account.
Please try changing it back, then change it to what it should be again.
In each case, you’ll receive a confirmation email at the new address with an activation link which must be clicked.
-
I changed the email address to the old one and then again to the new one, without result. I still get the error message and cannot post a comment reply directly from the blog post.
-
-
Yes I did.
However, clicking on ‘reply’ in a comment and then manually changing the appearing new email address into the old one results in posting the reply. -
Ok, this really should be working, so I’m a bit stumped. I’m going to pass this over to one of colleagues and see if they have any ideas.
Sorry about this!
