Why can I not comment?
-
Thank you for your patience and your kind help. Can you please tell me when I can expect a reply from your colleagues, for here it is past 2 o’clock in the morning.

It’s Friday evening here for most of us, so I’d say feel free to check back tomorrow. I don’t expect to hear anything before then.

Update:
The problem seems to have resolved itself overnight. Everything is now working as it should. Thanks for the help.

Sorry, I’m having the same issue myself, and I’m wondering if it may have to do with the email address. I have an account with an @pacbell.net address, and I can sign in with it on wordpress.com itself, and here, I’m commenting with it, with no problem. But when I try to comment on a wordpress.com blog, I put in my email and name and it directs me to the login screen, where I put in my info and it doesn’t take my credentials. If I sign in before I comment, then the comment page on the blog shows I’m signed in (“[username] You are commenting using your WordPress.com account.”). But when I post a comment while signed in, it again takes me to the login screen of WordPress.com and says that I’m trying to comment with an email address that’s linked to a WordPress.com account I’m not signed into. I have tried logging in with both my email address and username, and it kicks me out and fills in my email address in the username/email field, regardless of which method I try.
Interestingly, I created another WordPress.com account with a gmail address, and that one does work.
I’m also wondering if there is any conflict with wordpress.org, since I have an account on there with the pacbell.net email address.

Specifically, what is the URL of the blog you’re trying to comment on, and what is the email address you’re using?
-
Sure, it’s this page: http://dbyaregional.wordpress.com/carpool/
And my email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff)
You’ll notice that I was able to comment with my other wordpress.com account
-
Hm, that should definitely work. Would you please take a screenshot of the error you see and upload it via Media -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard so I can take a look?
-
Here it is:
http://awesomescreenshot.com/0d4efi69a
http://awesomescreenshot.com/09aefhq0aThis first image is what I see when I go to leave the comment, then I click “Post Comment”. The second screenshot is what I see immediately after I click it. From that screen, I can put in my password, or even change the first field to my username, and all it does is refresh the screen, clear out the password field, and reset the username/email field to my email address. It knows my email address from the username that I put in, and not through the fact that I’m signed into my account, because even when I do sign out and then try to comment, the same thing happens.
Thanks for all your help on this.

Ok, I see what you’re referring to. Would you please try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache?
-
That’s usually a good thing to try, but it didn’t work. In fact, I tried it on a different computer and a different browser to make sure.
