Why CAN I NOT HOST AN MP3??!

Oh, and with do respect, Mark…I’m just trying to help. Dialog is healthy. And WordPress itself installed an Odeo player to the options your business offers to clients.

I assume because you knew we would use it to upload sound of some kind — music more than likely.

All this considered: that nuke comment freaked me out. And it was out of line.

    We’re all friends here.

The fact remains that uploading ANY copyrighted music (or indeed other copyrighted files) without express permission if challenged will lead to getting the blog nuked. Therefore, Mark’s information sharing on this was not IMO “out of line”. Indeed some might say that if he had not drawn this line clearly he would have been remiss.

Not all music is illegal to upload, but it varies. The Barenaked Ladies have encouraged people to download, remix and share their new album, for instance. And of course back in the disco era there were no MP3’s and so the digital rights may belong to the artists or they may belong to the record companies; this is still being fought out in court.

But WordPress is hosted in the US and in general unless you’ve got specific permission or a general one (like BNL) it’s not legally a strong position to upload such files.

I wish all of you, who wish to upload mp3s, had 1Kbps connections, so that you would lose your interest of uploading them !

1k ehab? Do you mean that? even a dial-up runs at 56k! ;)

My dial up right now is an amazingly fast up to 5k/s.
