Why can I not login to the dashboard of my site?

The person who has created this website has passed away very abruptly. I have found the passwords and usernames to the website and have since been able to access it and change them. I however tried to access the website to edit it via the dashboard and was unable to do so. I am able to initially log in but once I hit dashboard and tries to make me login in again but tells me the username I am using is invalid. Please Help.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
And you should ask in the WordPress.org forum
