Why can I not move my images around once they are uploaded into my draft?

Until yesterday, this has always worked fine, but when I upload several pictures, they go load onto my post in the order uploaded, but if I want to re-order them, it will not work. The pictures will not budge when I try and “click and drag” them around. Instead what goes where I want my picture to go, is the name of the image that I uploaded!

I’m sorry about that! It looks like our new post editor has some problems dragging and dropping images in Internet Explorer. I let our team know about that so they can investigate it.
In the meantime, I’d recommend either trying out another popular browser (I really like Chrome) or using our classic editor in your site’s dashboard. You can get to the dashboard with the “Dashboard” link on your My Sites page. From there, you can manage your posts in the Posts section or create a new post under Posts > Add New.

I will give something else a try. Thanks! I wanted to clarify that I did not “drag and drop” my images into Internet Explorer…. I uploaded them through the “add media” option in the post itself and then am trying to drag and drop the images within the post. Does that make sense? Maybe that is what you are referring to – but I wanted to mark sure :). . Thanks so much!

Thanks for the clarification. :) The problem that we’ve found is about dragging and dropping the images within the post, as you mentioned, but so far it only seems to affect people using Internet Explorer.
Another approach you can try, if you want to keep using that new editor in Internet Explorer, is to delete the image, click on the new place you want the image to be, and then click “Add Media” to re-add the image in the right place in the post. Hopefully we’ll be able to get the drag and drop working properly within posts in Internet Explorer, but that’s another way to do it for now.

Our team just made a fix, and you should now be able to drag and drop images in the new editor in Internet Explorer. If you’d like to give that a try, please let me know how it goes! :)

This could affect any site hosted here at WordPress.com, but that’s separate from self-hosted WordPress sites using the WordPress.org software. Sites hosted here at WordPress.com will always mention WordPress.com in the footer at the bottom of the page. If you send me a link to the site you’re referring to, I can check to see if it’s hosted here.
