Why can readers not see a place for comments to my blog?
-
I am using the SHELF template. As I work on the blog from the “blogger” side , there is clearly a check mark under “Discussion” to “Allow Comments.” Yet when users read my blog on that template, they do not see any place to comment to the blog. What is the problem?
Thanks in advance for your help!

The comment area should be just to the right of the post in the single post view: http://blog.pequodsystems.com/2011/10/03/we-are-moving-on-a-new-look-and-feel/

Hi, Macmanx! I could not agree with you more about where the comment area *should* be. However, an external check of the blog shows no comment area at all.
Is there some unadvertised feature of the SHELF template that prevents it from happening?
Do I have to create a special menu for comments? I have not yet done so, on the assumption that simply enabling the feature would reveal a comment area.
Thanks for further help!

I have just discovered that IF the fully-qualified blog name (includng the title) is used, the comment page shows up, e.g. http://blog.pequodsystems.com/2011/10/03/we-are-moving-on-a-new-look-and-feel/
However, WordPress redirects to that page from the original page at http://pequodsystems.wordpress.com and I am wondering if the redirect may be part of the issue. The link that now shows is http://blog.pequodsystems.com .
Your thoughts, please.

I’m not sure what you mean. You did map http://blog.pequodsystems.com/ to pequodsystems.wordpress.com so that is your new URL, and http://pequodsystems.wordpress.com/ will redirect to http://blog.pequodsystems.com/
You need to visit your blog first at http://blog.pequodsystems.com/ then click on any post title, and you’ll see the comments area for that post.

staff-blorbo,

AHA! moment….(lightbulb just turned on over my head.) My previous template had a little spot that readers would click, so of course that is what I looked for—and did not see. Now that I have tried your solution and seen that it worked, I am back to being a happy camper again.
Thank you ever so much. You ARE the happiness engineer! / / (applause)
