Why cannot my credit card make a 'transaction at this time?'

    Since Thursday, I have attempted to make a purchase of a domain and upgrade off-and-on. I consistently receive the same message on both Safari and Google Chrome: ‘This transaction cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later.’ I have called the bank and tested the purchase multiple times with them watching. They could find no problem with my credit card, so it must be a problem with the site.
    Please let me know how to solve this problem so that I may begin my blogging experience.

    Below are the only accepted means of payment.

    WordPress.com uses PayPal as the payment processor, and as such, can only accept payment from countries they support: https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

    If for whatever reason, they have chosen to block payment from your country, you will not be able to purchase an upgrade here unless you have a source of payment outside of your country. Note: You can buy a prepaid credit card from an approved country.

    In addition to major credit cards Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/ WordPress.com can accept echecks and some debit cards.

    The debit card must have a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it, and should work just like a credit card when selecting the VISA or Mastercard option on the payment form, even though it’s a debit card.

    Hi there,

    I don’t see any failed payments in our system, and your account isn’t being blocked from purchasing upgrades.

    If paying by card doesn’t work, can you please try paying directly via PayPal?
