Why can't a friend sign up to follow my blog?
-
I’ve just invited a number of people to follow my new blog. Some have signed up with no trouble, but one friend got a message asking for her user name and password. What’s that about? Why would she need to set up an account to follow a blog? I thought that anyone could follow a blog; I have not put on any restrictions. Please advise. Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Rhea,
With the email sent to Follow the blog, we provide the opportunity to sign up for WordPress.com, but it’s entirely optional.
When you invite an email address to be a follower, the email sent looks like this:
If they do not have a WordPress.com account, clicking Accept brings them here:
This lets them follow via email, without a WordPress.com account.
The situation you described makes it sound like someone had been logged into WordPress.com, but with an account that uses a different email. This can happen often if several people share that computer.
If they’ve not successfully followed you, could you suggest to them to right-click the Accept button from their email, copy the link address, then paste that URL into their browser?
Or you send them a link to your site directly, and have them use the Follow-by-email widget here:
