Why Can't Free Accounts have Unlimited MB for Photos?

I think There should be Unlimited MB for Photos and Keep Premium Accounts for Video hosting, Because you can create blog after blog and keep using 3GB each blog so why not let someone have 1 Unlimited MB blog instead of having to create many many more?

“Many many more”? Are you aware of how many thousands of (properly sized) images you can upload before running out of the 3GB space?

I’ve been here six years uploading an average of two photos a day and haven’t reached the limit yet. But my photos are optimized.

And on my blog it’s only 2 percent used (in six months). And my blog is about photography with many galleries. But I think space upgrade is cool to get video uploading.

I have also been here almost 6 years and have only used 55.4 MB used, 2.9 GB I have (98.2%) upload space remaining.

If you need more space, which would be amazing, you can create an account at Flickr or PhotoBucket, and link back… if you need videos, create a free YouTube account and link back.
None of your photos, unless you’re broadcasting images from spy satellites, should be more than 200k.

I’ve seen some hyper sized multi-gigapixel panos that are still well under 1GB in file size. 3GB is plenty room to get started. Support WP and buy space when you exceed 3GB.

It seems you only tend to your blog every six months, so you should be fine for a long time.

I did burn through over half the memory allowed on a site that I set up for special events in a few months, but I did not edit the pictures and just uploaded the raw junk from the camera. Probably half the pictures were junk and could have been deleted – hind site is great. I now do some editing and only upload the better pictures – I now also do a bit of optimizing of the file size – if someone wants a special picture with a lot of pixels I either upload just that one or email it to them.
I did see one site that insisted in uploading 10 mb pictures of their new child – they did 3 gb in less than a year and were into their 2nd memory upgrade in just over a year.

After 2 years we’ve uploaded 2879 photos and have used 567 MB.
Unless you’re providing wallpaper in various large resolutions for download, 3 GB should last a long time.
