Why can't Gmail discover my credentials for my custom domain name?
-
I am attempting to send emails to potential clients using the custom domain email address I have set up. The only way I have found to do this is by logging into my Gmail account and adding the custom domain email as a “Send mail as”. However, when I attempt to set this up, it requires my SMTP server password. I entered what I thought it might be but it came up with the error that my other hoster was taking too long to respond.
A) is there a simpler way to send emails through wordpress?
B) How can I find out my SMTP server password?
C) How can you make sure that I will be able to connect my two emails?I was looking into getting the professional package, so far I am glad I have trialled it. I’m sure most of it is user error though. Please help.

It looks like you’ve setup custom email forwarding that forwards emails sent to your curiositygear.com address to your gmail.com address. Email forwarding is mainly designed to work one way – from your custom address to your current email address. With certain services, it is possible to customize the outgoing email address, but unfortunately, that isn’t possible with a free Gmail account.
If you would like to stick with Gmail but be able to send emails from your custom address, you will need to follow the instructions here to setup a Google Apps account:

Can you give that a try?
