Why cant I add a Category to my Portfolio Project page?

  Hello,

  I’m trying to organize my wordpress site and I am currently using the “Illustrator” theme. I set up a main menu with a page called “portfolio” that has the submenu “Design” ( CREATED BY USING THE CATEGORY OPTION). I created a “Portfolio project” that I want show up when the submenu “Design” is selected but there’s isn’t a “Category” meta box option when creating the Portfolio project page. The only options that I have are “Project Type” and “Tags” and there isn’t an option to use those as a submenu.

  I really want to add a “Category” to my portfolio project page so I can organize things by the submenu.

  I also noticed that you can only add the category when making a new “Post”.

  Any help would be appreciated and if there is any coding involved as a solution, could you please let me know where to cut and paste it.
