Why can't I add my custom theme?

    I have mapped my domain on wordpress and also pointed my domain via my webhost. I still cannot get my Themes section to display “Add New Theme”. I know this is because you can only upload themes on the backend when we own our own domain.

    I feel like all my sites are still ***.wordpress.com, but we own our domain and I need to get this up. What can I do to fix this issue?

    Hi there,

    Themes can’t be uploaded to sites hosted on WordPress.com. They can only be uploaded to self-hosted blogs running on WordPress.org software. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:

    I see that you only added 2 nameservers. Can you please add the last one:

    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    I have purchased a theme I like on themeforest and would like to use that, but can’t get my dashboard / theme page to allow me to add that theme.

    I’ve added the third nameserver. Is there anything else I need to do so I can add the theme I purchased?

    As I mentioned above, you cannot use the theme from Themeforest:

    Themes can’t be uploaded to sites hosted on WordPress.com. They can only be uploaded to self-hosted blogs running on WordPress.org software. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:

    Yes can we move from com to org. I like the theme I purchased and would like to customize my site with it.

    Could you please provide instructions?

    Also what happens with the memberships I have paid trying to get everything to work?

    This guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:

    As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:
