Why can't I cancel an expired domain?!
-
My domain for atribecalledx.com expired on October 25, 2014. It was purchased by HugeDomains.com who is currently squatting on the url.
Today, i purchased a new domain- thetribexpress.com, but it isn’t live or active. Instead of my web site showing, I get a message that reads: “Your blog’s domain atribecalledx.com stopped functioning on Sunday, October 26, 2014 and visitors who come to the web address atribecalledx.com cannot find your site any more. Please note the primary domain thetribexpress.com was also deactivated until atribecalledx.com is either renewed or canceled.”
I can’t do anything with atribecalledx.com anymore; i no longer own it. And even when i try to manually cancel it from the Upgrades page, I’m unable to. A buggy window pops up with a ‘Cancel Upgrade’ headline and that’s it. There are no other buttons to click on, no actual options to cancel atribecalledx.com being attached to my wordpress site.
I have no intentions of purchasing atribecalledx.com for over $2,000 from HugeDomains.com, especially when I originally acquired through WordPress for $18.
I need help canceling atribecalledx.com so that I can continue with thetribexpress.com.
I was really disappointed about losing atribecalledx; I wanted to keep that name. However, I understand the rules of the game. During a hiatus, when my site was inactive, I failed to renew the domain. But now I’m prepared to move forward with the new.
I need to take care of this situation as soon as possible, so that if i need to cancel thetribexpress.com, I’m still eligible for a refund. I don’t have money to waste on a domain that’s not working.
Can someone please assist me with canceling the expired domain?
I have screencaptures, if needed.

Hi there,
I’m sorry for the trouble, and sorry to hear about your old domain! I removed the domain upgrade for atribecalledx.com from your site, so you’ll stop getting that message on your site now. You can continue using your new domain there: http://thetribexpress.com/
I also let our team know about the bug you ran into when you tried to cancel that yourself, so they can look into fixing that up.
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that!
