Why can't I change my e-mail address?

    You have an old e-mail address for me that is no longer in use( (email visible only to moderators and staff)). When I try to change it to my current e-mail address, it tells me that e-mail address ics already in use. Indeed it is. Messages are sent to me from WordPress at that e-mail address. I do not want to have to change my user name which I thought was connected to my current e-mail address. Is there anyway I can delete that old e-mail address and use my existing one, (email visible only to moderators and staff)?

    You can only have one account per email address on WordPress.com.

    When you go to account settings: https://wordpress.com/settings/account/ do you see the old email or the new? (Note that email addresses are stripped out in the forum so I can’t see them if you type them here.)
