Why can't I change or remove my background image?
-
Hello, I seem to be having trouble removing a background image. I have had the same background for over a year, and whenever I try to change it or remove it, the changes are shown as saved inside WordPress but my blog site still displays the old image. I have tested on multiple computers, cleared browser cache, etc. and the image still displays. Am I doing something wrong? I would really like to be able to remove or change the background image. Thank you!

What I’m seeing now is a tiled shot of a coastline from the ocean.
Is that what should be there, or what it keeps reverting back to?

That’s what it’s reverting back to. I want the image of the coastline to go away. Right now, I have my background set to nothing, and it’s still showing up. Around the middle of the day today, I tried uploading a variety of different images, and they would upload and display correctly in the backend, but on the site the image of the coastline still displayed. The test images even displayed when I would preview my site on another theme. But if I chose the new theme, it would automatically have the coastline image as background regardless of my settings.

I deleted it from the media section like you suggested, but it’s still showing up on the site. This is very strange!

Yes it does. If you look at my page now, you can see that I chose a theme with a background, but if you scroll down this pesky coastline still snuck itself in somehow.

I have fixed my own problem. There was a spare bit of code in one of the widgets that still referenced the image which was hosted elsewhere on Photobucket.
Thank you so much for your help.
