Why can't I create links in my EDIT PAGE?
-
I used to be able to create links in my EDIT PAGE, but recently WP is not allowing me to create links. What is wrong or what do I need to do to create links again?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Are you trying to add a link to a post or page in the editor? You can create a link by following the steps described here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/#creating-links
If that doesn’t work for you, please let me know where you get stuck and I’ll be happy to help further. :)

Thank you Rachel. I’m in the Edit Page and I’m adding links to individual blog posts, kinda like a blogroll. I used to be able to add links without problems, but now, I highlight the link text, click on the paper clip, and nothing happens. I’m in Visual mode, not Text.

Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Google Chrome?

Hi Kardotim. Thanks for your response. I opened WP in Chrome & Firefox and creating the links worked fined just as they were supposed to. WP was working fine in Explorer until I downloaded an iTunes & Java update. Since then WP Create Link icon was greyed out, hence not letting me create links. I could create links in Text Mode, but that was a rather arduous process. I have a SUBJECT INDEX page on my blogsite and this is where I create most of my links.

I’m sorry you’re encountering that problem. Can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?
Or reset the Internet Explorer browser using these instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737
Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Kardotim. Thanks for your suggestions. I didn’t reset IE after reading that it was irreversible. So I cleared the cookies, opened my dashboard, EDIT PAGE, but clicking on the link icon didn’t do anything.
I tried to clear the cache but when I went to TOOLS and clicked on F12DEVELOPER TOOLs, I didn’t get the DEVELOPER TOOLS window that the MS instructions said would appear. So I didn’t clear the cache. [I don’t know a thing about code, so I left the F12 thingy alone.
I went back to my EDIT PAGE and when I tried to create a link, WP still wouldn’t create the link. But when I forced a refresh using CTRL + F5, I was able to create links like before.
When I went to another page to edit that page, I tried to create a link, but WP wouldn’t create the link. When I refreshed that page (CTRL + F5), I could create links on that page like before.
I am willing to refresh the page whenever I need to add new links and thus consider this problem solved. If you have any more suggestions I would be willing to try them.
As noted on your site (which I hadn’t noticed before) WP recommends using Firefox and that’s what I’ll use from now on. I didn’t have a bit of problem creating links in Firefox.
Thanks again for your attention and service.
