Why can't I cut and paste into new posts?

  I can’t cut and paste into new posts.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  When you say that you’re having problems cutting and pasting in to new posts, is this all in a single browser, or is this happening with all browsers?

  Also, is the problem happening with the cutting part, or the pasting part? In other words, after you cut from a source, are you able to paste it elsewhere and just not into the new post window, or are you having problems with the cut feature as well?

  Thanks for getting back to me. It’s happening in Safari, the problem is with the pasting part, and yes, I am able to paste it elsewhere.

  Thanks for getting back to me! We’ve actually heard from a few additional people and have discovered that pasting works, however there is a weird secondary bug that is causing it to look like pasting is broken.

  The bug is that there is a lot of blank white space pre-populated in the visual editor on your new post. It doesn’t show up if you post, but you can’t delete it when you’re writing your post. If you scroll down, you should see your cursor. Can you check to see if that’s what’s happening and if you can paste there? I’d like to make sure that it’s the same bug!

  That doesn’t seem to be the case here: when I click to paste, nothing happens – the cursor doesn’t move, there’s no additional white space in the post, nothing.

  Our team launched a fix that we’re hoping resolved this copy-paste issue. Can you check to see if you’re able to paste into the post editor now?

  If it’s still causing you trouble, could you give it a try in another browser to see if it works there? (You don’t need to permanently switch — it’ll just help us to know if it’s specific to your Safari browser or if it happens for you in all browsers.)   Thanks for checking back. Here’s the situation:

  • I can copy from a Word doc and paste from the Edit drop-down menu

  • I can copy from a website but not paste from the drop-down menu

  But . . .

  • I can copy from a website and paste with

  So it’s workable to that extent. Thanks for all your help.
