Why can't I disable "Likes" on all posts?
-
Although my blog get a over thousand views a day, the only “likes” come from people who are *obviously* scammers; their blogs consist entirely of “make bux on teh Interwebs” crap. Take a look at some recent likes and you’ll see what I mean.
For example:
http://www.drewiaconis.com/about-me/
http://reachingutopia.com/about/
http://livelifelovebacon.com/wordpress/store/
http://www.welcometosuccessonline.com/make-money-online/I think my *real* readers like what I write, but they don’t feel any need to do anything special. They just keep coming back, day after day… and occasionally stuff I write gets noticed on hackaday.
Therefore, I want to disable *all* Likes, because I don’t want my blog used to promote junk. I’ve set the main option to “Turned on per post” and, in each post, the “Show likes” is un-checked by default. As nearly as I can tell, the Like button does not appear on any any post; I’ve checked with different browsers and there’s no button.
So, it appears the scammers are able to Like my posts, despite my best efforts, and they’re the *only* people who make the effort to do so. Perhaps it’s a menu option, but I get the notices directly from WordPress.com, so you’re obviously enabling them.
How about making it *impossible* to “like” my blog, period?
That choice should default to “off”, of course, but for curmudgeons like me, turning it on to disable bogus “likes” would be exactly what’s needed.
Thanks…

Hi there,
I took a look at your site and the way that you are still getting “Likes” is because your articles are still being posted to the WordPress.com reader, which still has a like button available on it.
This issue has actually already been identified and we are working towards a resolution for it. Hopefully the “spam likes” will be reduced or removed entirely soon!
