why can’t i edit?

  • Unknown's avatar

    i really, really prefer the classic editor. maybe i’m just resistant to change. Or maybe i just resist change that does not solve a problem. i have been blogging since 2012. my stuff is 100% text. i do not plan to change that any time soon. if i do, I’m sure blocks will be very handy. but now i am finding it impossible to add new posts. i’ve tried creating them in blocks, in classic, and i am consistently told that am not allowed to edit or update. Message: ‘Updating failed. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post.’

    @jamesbrotherofjesus,

    Hi. It isn’t necessary, as suggested countless times in these forums by WordPress.com staff, to use the Classic Block in the Block Editor in a vain attempt to approximate the experience Classic Editor. The genuine Classic Editor itself is still available to every WordPress.com user, and it’s still free. How to access it is described and illustrated here, on page 3 of the topic block vs classic.
