Why can't I follow blogs?

I am unable to follow blogs. Though the “+ follow” button at the bottom of a blog’s page appears and i fill in my email. No matter what email I type in, it sends me to a screen that says my email is not real. Even if I’m imagining that i am checking my inboxes on my various email accounts, I know the one that I used to create my wordpress account is valid because I have a blog of my own under that email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)). Maybe the issue is my browser, because I noticed that my friend has a menu bar that appears at the top of the page which allows them to follow when they are logged into their wordpress account and are visiting a blog, but I do not have that menu bar. Also, I was able to follow a blog when on the “recommended blogs” page and clicked the “follow” button under the blog of choice. To sum up, I cannot follow a blog by visiting the blog’s page. Thank you for your time.

Let’s start here. If you are logged into WordPress.com, you should be seeing that bar.
As a test, could you try Safari or Firefox and see if you see the same follow/admin bar issues?

That worked instantly, so I thank you. I guess I was in denial that anything could have been wrong with my browser, and I was yelling into (what i perceived as) the black empty hole that is the wordpress help thing. But if you have any theories as to why google chrome could be actin’ up in this oddly specific way, I’d love to pick your brain futher. Otherwise, have a good day, rootjosh.

Could have somehow set it up to refuse cookies. That would be the first thing I would check.
In any case, glad to hear things are working (even if not with your preferred browser).
