Why can't I get the wordpress web site address of a deleted site ?

    I got my eye on a wordpress website name but wordpress tells be that it’s already taken. I tried it and the site has long been deleted. WordPress writes :

    ” –fictivedesirename–.wordpress.com is no longer available.
    The authors have deleted this site “

    Therefore, if the site isn’t active, how come can’t I use it ?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Deleted WordPress sites are not recycled, gone for good.

    Deletions are permanent and irreversible. This is to protect you as well as them. What if you took a URL that was used by someone else and news came out later that they were a murderer and their blog was at YourURL.wordpress.com?
