Why can't I insert a link into my post?

  I am having trouble inserting a link into my post today. Never had this happen before but when I highlight the text and click the link icon, the box pops open but there’s no content in there. And if I try to type the URL of another site as a link and click update, it does nothing and just takes me back to the “edit post” page.
