Why can't I italicize a selection of text?

  For some reason, the editor (both the old version and the ‘new’ version’) won’t allow me to select text and italicize it. The only way I can use italics is if I click the icon, or use the hot key, before I begin typing a word. I’ve reopened my browser and the page, and it still won’t let me edit selections of previously typed text like it normally does.

  Hello,

  I’ve switched my test blog to the same theme your site uses, and I cannot reproduce the problem. I’m wondering if something else in your browser is interfering.

  Can you try a different browser, just to see what happens? (i.e., Firefox, Safari, Chrome — anything different than your current browser.)

  Trying to see if some browser extension is perhaps interfering.
