Why can’t I post comments?

I am able to post comments on my own blog, but when I comment on other WordPress blogs, nothing happens. I’m logged in, I type the message, I click “Submit,” the page reloads WITHOUT my comment! It’s been going on all day – I’ve emailed the owners of the blogs and my comments aren’t getting stuck in Akismet and are not awaiting moderation, they are simply disappearing.
It’s completely unnerving!
I’ve already gone in and deleted my cookies and browser history and logged in again and this did not fix the issue. What’s going on????

Did you also empty your browser cache or is that what you meant when you said “history?”

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that. You’re certain they don’t end up in Akismet?
And the other blogs, are they on wordpress.com?

You can also go to my blog at http://thesacredpath.wordpress.com and try leaving a comment of the first post, and post back here after you do.
One thing to keep in mind with Akismet is that if your comments are getting caught, it may take a few hours before they show up there for the bloggers to see.

I just tried to post on your blog and got the same results = zilch.
Let me know if it ended up in Akismet. I did not get a message telling me it was awaiting moderation, the page just reloaded without my added comment.

Do you have another browser installed on your system?
Which browser/version and operating system are you using?

I have Vista. *Don’t even start*
I’m also running IE7.
Funnily enough, it started while I was downloading updates this morning. Service Pack 1 has been failing to install for six months. Any connection?

I don’t know much about Vista other than what I’ve read. If you can, download firefox and give it a try as a test: http://en.www.mozilla.com/en/ . If it doesn’t fix the problem, you can always uninstall it.

The problem shouldn’t be my browser – I’ve been blogging for years and it only just started happening this morning.

I’m using Vista and have just left a comment on a friends blog with IE 7 which went through fine.
Do you have any other browsers?

Sorry for the double post: Yeah, it shouldn’t be your browser, but in order to figure things out it’s best to eliminate them one by one. :)

I’ve had browsers go batty on me and I’ve had to reinstall them from time to time, it’s just a way to check and see if that is the problem.
The other possibility is to contact staff on Monday when they open at 9am Pacific to see if it’s a backend problem or not. The do monitor these forums, so they may take a look this weekend.
I do know they will probably ask if you have tried another browser.

Guess I’ll have to wait for Support to open on Monday.

Hopefully they will look at it this weekend. Sorry we couldn’t solve the problem for you, but now incase staff asks, you can say you have tried another browser. I’ll keep watching to see if you comment shows up on my blog.

One last thing to try is to reboot your system and see if that makes a difference. I’m grasping at straws, but it’s worth a try.

Have rebooted twice already today, plus left the computer off for seven hours.
Still keeps happening.
