why cant i put tags on pages?
-
i want to tag pages
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Pages sit outside the blog structure and have no RSS Feeds. Pages are for static content that rarely changes. If you are using them for anything else you are off course. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
-
So why can I not assign tags to “static content that rarely changes”? The tags would also rarely change.
-
It’s not possible. You are, in essence, barking the wrong tree. Tags and Categories can only be assigned to Posts not to Pages.
-
I want to draw attention to the content of my (static) pages with tags. Your reply doesn’t come close to addressing my question.
-
I’m not barking UP the wrong tree at all – I’m asking WHY tags cannot be assigned to pages. If you don’t have a sensible response to my question, please jog on and don’t bother replying. I don’t need muppets telling me pages don’t get tags. I know this already.

What I posted is 100% correct. The software will not provide you with the ability to add categories or tags to static Pages because Pages sit outside the blog structure.
If you think Tags are important then copy and paste your Page content into Posts and delete the Pages because there is no automatic means of converting from Pages to Posts and visa versa.

Perhaps you shpuld read this https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-code-of-conduct?replies=1
Then take a deep breath and recognize that the Volunteers like myself answering questions here predate almost every support staff member even being on staff. If you want support in the future then maybe too special to post here on the peer support forums. maybe you need to email support@wordpress.com because we Volunteers don’t get paid to suffer insults from those with wooden heads.
