Why can't I register a WordPress domain that has not been activated yet?

  I want to register thesedaysblog.wordpress.com. When I try to register, it says that the site already exists. However, when visiting thesedaysblog.wordpress.com, WordPress says the site hasn’t been activated yet.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I’m not 100% sure as I’ve never seen that specific message before, but my best guess is that someone has already registered that address and just hasn’t clicked the link in the account activation email yet.

  Whatever the case, you won’t be able to register that address if the system says it’s already taken, so either pick something else, or see if the address you want is available to register as a custom domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
