why can't I register my blog with wi.ncfr.org ?
-
Our parent national organization has ‘space’ for us, a web page, at wi.ncfr.org it’s theirs, they own it.
However, we own the blog of our state website, wicfr.wordpress.com , we would LOVE to pay the $12 to upgrade and to have people be able to go to our blog site at wordpress when they type in wi.ncfr.org . However, we get an error saying that subdomains under this domain are owned by someone else? We are aware of another state organization, oh.ncfr.org , ohio, that is also using wordpress, but, NCFR has not granted them our wi.ncfr.org space…… What do we need to do? Thanks, Sterling and Amanda, website creators.

Hi there,
I’m afraid that it’s not possible to map this subdomain, since another subdomain on the same domain is currently mapped under a different WordPress.com account.
Your best bet would be to map a domain (example.com) to your WordPress.com blog:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/It’s possible that you could forward your subdomain to that domain — you should contact your web developer or administrator for details.

Thanks Chris,
I wonder, if there is anyway around this? Since NCFR has an organization in each of the 50 states, as well as numerous student organizations, while not all will be using wordpress, the fact that only one can have the domain name registered to them, does pre-clude any of the rest of us from using your services as we had hoped. As it is, if I understand correctly, you are suggesting we create a domain name somewhere, that is ours, and then we map from NCFR, to our new domain name, to wordpress. Is that right? Thanks, Sterling
