Why can't I save ratings settings?
-
Yesterday, I had ratings settings on my home page. These were were the ‘out of the box’ settings, as I had never played with this part of the admin panel
Today, I went into the advanced settings of the ratings options, to change the colour of my stars. However, NOW, whenever I save the advanced settings, it defaults to both radio buttons (star or nero) being blank. IE – no matter the combination of hands or stars, sizes or colours, it always defaults to blank, blank, blank all the way down.I also sometimes see ‘bubuStar Color’ at the ‘star colour’ dropdown, but there’s no dropdown.
I have cleared cache and checked on FF, Chrome and IE.
Any suggestions?

Hi there,
I’m sorry about the trouble with your ratings. It looks like you’re running into a bug there. I reported the issue to our developers so they can investigate that for you. Thanks for letting us know!
If there’s anything I can do to help in the meantime, please let me know.

Hi there,
Our team fixed up this issue, so the ratings are working again on your site. If you’d like, you can change the appearance of those ratings by going to Settings > Rating in your dashboard. We have more about that here: Ratings
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

Thanks for this! They are working fine… Except…. (uhoh). Feedback options don’t appear on the stick article(s). Neither on the front page, nor when the article is chosen.
Am I missing a setting?Thx again :)

Hi there,
I did some testing, and I can’t reproduce the missing ratings like on your sticky post. When I tested it (also with the Mystique theme), I see the ratings on both the front page and on the sticky post itself.
Could you please try opening the sticky post in the post editor and clicking the “Update” button to resave it? If that doesn’t fix it, please let me know and I can keep investigating this for you.

Hi!
I updated the post, but it is still the same, I changed thumbs to stars, I cleared my local cache, I tried it logged out and also tried on Chrome, Explorer and FF.I created a new, test sticky (and tried this on an existing post) and have noticed this – The rating options disappear ONLY when you use a featured images (which, in Mystique, creates a top banner on the home page). When making a sticky WITHOUT this featured image, it runs fine…
-
That’s interesting. I tested with a sticky post that had a featured image, and it worked for me. I just checked your site again, and I figured out what’s happening!
The Mystique theme is putting the ratings on the page, but because your featured image is so tall it’s covering them up. If you try using a shorter featured image (something around 150 pixels tall) you should see the ratings show up just below the image.
I hope this helps! :)

My apologies, perhaps I didn’t explain myself properly…
Firstly, a 150px image is a bit crazy, and it certainly doesn’t fit with the mystique size recommendations which, irrespective of the image size, crops it automatically to fit its own preset parameters. Also, this is a ‘woraround’, rather than the ‘true’ way. Shown by the fact that the rating text cannot be seen against the Mystique background and also when you place ratings at the bottom, it encroaches onto the white ‘page’ below.
But that aside, what I mean is this:
When you click on ANY article, you receive the rating on the 4th ‘row’, directly above the article. (when placing the ratings ‘at the top’ of the article).< Prev article Next Article >
ARTICLE TITLE HERE
DATE – Posted By (me)
RATINGS ARE SEEN HEREOn a STICKY article, this ‘4th row’ does not appear.
This would appear to be a conflict between the ‘sticky’ option and the ratings. Maybe something like the coding ‘sees’ the ratings under the ‘sticky’ featured image so therefore does not replicate it in it’s correct place (4th row). However, under all (normal) circumstances, the rating would not be seen because of Mystique’s image parameters. Assuming this, it would certain appear to be a conflict with WP base coding and Mystique’s designers.

Hi there,
I know what you mean, and I’m sorry the ratings aren’t working as expected. I did report the issue to our team, but I don’t know if and when they will be able to fix that issue. I offered the workaround as a way to get the ratings to appear in the meantime.
I’m sorry I can’t get this working for you right away, but please let me know if there’s anything more I can do to help at this point.

No, no. Don’t apologise. I initially wondered if it was something I’d overlooked, but between us, it’s obviously a compatibility issue. At least we have realised that :)))))
Rachel, it’s hardly a life threatening issue, and I really appreciate your help and advice. :)
Have a good evening.

You’re very welcome. :) I’m glad we were able to pinpoint where the problem lies — thanks for all the investigating you did!
