Why can't I see all the options on the left sidebar of the dashboard ?

This was going to be my personal blog, but I’ve never done anything with it as I’ve been too involved with the other blogs I’m on. But I wanted to change the theme to Sandbox, so that I could try out some ideas, before I made any changes to the other blogs (I do have the upgrade that allows me to edit the CSS), but several of the left sidebar items are missing, like Users, Appearance, etc. When this happened on a different blog that I’m on, changing my user status to Administrator fixed the problem, but I should already be the administrator on this blog. I logged out of WP, cleared my cookies & cache before I logged back in, but still no complete sidebar listing/commands. Any idea of what’s causing this to happen?

You aren’t seeing those sidebar items because the librarylady99 user has the user role of Author rather than Administrator.

You can change this by either logging in as the administrator of the millertimetx blog, or having that administrator change your user role from author to administrator.

Well, that’s the whole problem…. I should be the Administrator on the account, since I’m the one who set it up originally and there are no other users that I’m aware of. But since I don’t have access to the Users section, I can’t change my role. Is it possible for WP to change the setting for me? I can provide the p/w for the account if you need it. Thanks

  • The user who setup and currently owns the blog is mil[…]etx.

Your username has always been set as “Author” on this particular blog.

OK, I’ll see if I can get into it with that user name. Thanks again
