Why can't I send a message to WP.com support, even when they're closed?

I’m trying to delete a site, I’m having issues, and I need to contact support. But is it just me, or is it impossible to send them a message when they’re closed?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All blogs are independent sites so what you do on or with one has no affect on any others.

To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog.

Please check in your email client spam/ junk mail filter as well as your “social” tab in Gmail, if you use it. If it’s not there then please post the URL of the blog starting with http:// I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

Alternatively, to change blog visibility to private so you can use the unwanted blog for testing and or as a backup blog go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ Then see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

Thanks. However, your response really isn’t helpful, because I’ve already tried everything. I am the owner of the site and my email address is correct, but I’m not receiving the email that will allow me to complete the steps to delete the site. Which is why I need to contact support, but apparently I can’t because they’re closed until Wednesday.

As I said above this thread is tagged for Staff support.

I know. Sorry. Just frustrated and venting and unable to understand why direct contact to support would be shut down, instead forcing me to post publicly about something that the public forms can do nothing to help me with.

    Thanks for answering, BTW.

Provided you have purchased upgrades, you can contact Staff privately. http://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/

I do have paid upgrades and I started at that link. And at the top of that page it says:

Support is closed at the moment while we work on a few projects internally as a team. We will reopen on Wednesday, September 24th.

The forums are open over the break and you can post a support request using the form below.

Which is why I had to post in the forums.

Well consider yourself fortunate then, because those using the support by email option will wait longer to get Staff help than those posting here will.

    Hi @kndacus,

Can you let me know a bit more about what you’re looking to do? If you could provide the URL of the site you’re trying to delete, that would be very helpful!

I am trying to delete the blog http://mtcw.wordpress.com. The group it was created for no longer exists. Our shut-down message has been posted for 10 months, and it’s time to get rid of the entire site. But when I go through the process in the dashboard to delete the site, it tells me I have to complete the process via an email that will be sent to me. But no email is ever sent. I have a feeling it’s being sent to an email address that no longer exists, one that was associated with the blog. But I can’t find that email address listed anywhere on my dashboard so that I can change it to the email address associated with my profile as the administrator of the site.

If more details need to be shared, I would appreciate it happening off of the public forum.

    Hi Kaye!

I went ahead and replied to you via private email. Please keep all additional correspondence there!
