Why can't I show latest blog posts on homepage AND on blog page?

  Hi.

  I have a separate blog page on my site which has all my posts on it. However I also want to show the latest 2 or 3 posts on the homepage as well. I have done it in wordpress editor but then when i upload it it disappears. So frustrating! What am I doing wrong? Thanks
