Why can't I upload other file formats?

  I started a blog today but may have to abandon it, because wordpress.com won’t let me upload computer source code, schematics, or other file types essential to the blog:

  Hold the presses! Can’t distribute software!

  Are there any plans to allow more open web sites to be attached to blogs, or should I start looking for a different blogging service?

  As you noted in your post (and as noted in support documentation), the file types that we support are jpg, jpeg, png, gif, pdf, doc, ppt, odt, pptx, docx, pps, ppsx, xls, xlsx.

  You will need to use another service like Dropbox or use a self-hosted installation of WordPress.org to upload additional file types.
