why can't I upload videos to my website after purchasing the premium plan?
-
I have a “self-hosted” WordPress website. I wanted to add videos to my site. I just purchased the Premium plan so I could upload files larger than 20MB, however, I still don’t have the ability to do so. Please help me figure out what steps are missing.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi!
Just to be clear, you’re trying to upload videos to jamesrmchenry.wordpress.com, correct? Can you give this another try here?

From what I can see, you shouldn’t be blocked from uploading videos to that site.

Hey Jeremeylduvall,
Thanks for the response.
Nope. I am trying to put them on my site: http://www.jamesrmchenry.com. Is this possible? -
That should be possible as well. Unfortunately, that’s a self-hosted site so I can’t access your site files or Media Library. What error message are you receiving when you try to upload a photo?
Just a note, the site you mention (your self-hosted site) is not affected at all by the Premium bundle purchase. That bundle only affects jamesrmchenry.wordpress.com. Did you want to make the two one in the same (so jamesrmchenry.com reflects the content on jamesrmchenry.wordpress.com)? Or, did you want to leave them separate?

Jeremey,
I’m not 100% sure what you mean but making them the same. I would consider it if I wouldn’t lose anything from my main site.http://www.jamesrmchenry.com is a WordPress site. Shouldn’t the premium package apply?
-
Hi!
The site jamesrmchenry.com is a WordPress.org site running on Pow Web it looks like. Although that is WordPress, it’s completely separate from WordPress.com. You can read a bit more about the differences here:
The Premium bundle will only apply to jamesrmchenry.wordpress.com.
By “making them the same,” I meant using a technique called “mapping.” Essentially, we would take your domain (jamesrmchenry.com) and map it to jamesrmchenry.wordpress.com. That way, it would only reflect the content on jamesrmchenry.wordpress.com. At that point, your site would not be self-hosted anymore (you couldn’t use plugins, for example). It would be hosted at WordPress.com.
Can you give that doc I linked above a read through? I think that will help to clarify a bit of this up.

Thank you very much for the clarification. I’m thinking it makes some sense for me to ride out the remainder of my hosting with PowWeb. When it comes time to re-up, however, I may try your suggested mapping technique. I guess I need a refund.
Cheers,
~James -
No problem James! I went ahead and refunded your purchase. I’ve also removed the Premium bundle from your account.
