Why can’t I use usemap in my page?
-
I’m trying to use the syntax useMap in my page and each time I type in and save, the syntax will be remove automatically. Can someone explain to me why? is this feature not supported in ‘page’ or I need to upgrade?

Where is the link to the usemap? What is the code you are trying to insert? Please provide specifics because without them no one can answer your question. :)
If it’s javascript, an iframe, form, flash or an embed then the programming will strip the code out to protect and preserve our security here. We are all working on a multi-user blogging platform. That means if I hacked into one single embed I could access all the blogs. You can also check the FAQs blog for details http://faq.wordpress.com/ and the forum search box. :)

The usemap tag is probably being stripped out due to security concerns. Just for reference, here’s a list of what’s allowed here at wp.com.
Not sure why it’s being stripped. *chuckle* First time it’s come up since I’ve been here. Actually had to look it up.
I’ll send in a feedback with a pointer to this thread and see if we can get staff to weigh in.

This is the script I tried to place:

each time I save this, useMap=”map1″ will be erased automatically

But wait, I’m wondering if this wouldn’t be a helpful work around. If they’re static maps, you could just do a screen capture of the map on your screen using your “Print Screen” button if you’re on a PC. That will save the image of your desktop to your clipboard. Then you can load up MSPaint and paste the image to it so you can edit and size it. Lastly, you could upload the image like you normally would.

The only way around this would be to cut the image into squares and put it together in a TABLE element.
